''PARLIAMENT STANDS WITH YOU''- Parliamentary Select Committee Motivates FSRP Ghana Team
The Parliamentary
Select Committee on Food, Agriculture & Cocoa Affairs has applauded the
interventions of the West Africa Food System Resilience Programme (FSRP) and
pledged their support for the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) towards the
successful implementation of the project. The assurance was given when the
select committee paid a working visit to the PIU of FSRP at the MoFA Projects
Office in Accra. The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Godfred Seidu Jasaw (MP
for Wa East) indicated that the meeting was occasioned to enable them to
familiarize themselves with the works of the project (FSRP) and explore ways of
support for the team.
Technical
Insights and Progress Update
Among other critical
matters, the FSRP team briefed the select committee on: implementation progress
across the project’s core components; significant milestones achieved since the
project’s inception; challenges faced during execution and strategies to
address them; early outcomes and performance metrics; and providing a
data-driven look at the project’s impact on target regions.
The Project Coordinator of FSRP, Mr. Osei Owusu Agyeman, briefed the Select Committee on FSRP’s key operational pillars. He said, as a necessary measure to entrench the project's viability long after it has ended, every intervention is hinged on three pillars: Sustainability, Ownership & Public-Private Engagement. In other words, every facility established or activity coordinated by FSRP must be programmed to be self-sustaining long after the project. Again, the facility must have a clear owner - be it a state institution, community or private entrepreneur, who will bear responsibility for the management and maintenance of the facility. Above all, the involvement of the private sector in the collaborative management of all project facilities must be upheld.
Commitment
from Parliament.
Hon. Jasaw commended
the FSRP team for their transparency and reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to
support the project through effective oversight and policy dialogue. He further
pledged sustained engagement between the PIU and the Committee, stressing that
such collaborations are crucial to ensuring that the FSRP delivers on its
objectives of building a stronger, more resilient agricultural sector in Ghana.

FSRP in Ghana is being implemented by the Ministry of Food & Agriculture with a focus on the intensified production of Rice, Maize, Soya,
